We are going to be make an Energy Slide show during this unit. This slideshow will be for a grade. Begin making your slide show using Google Presentation.
SLIDE 1: Title Slide -“Types of Energy” (*make sure your first and last name are on this slide)
Watch these two BrainPops on POTENTIAL and KINETIC energy (BrainPop Login: bgisbucs password: bgis). Use what you've learned about the two types of energy to add two slides to your Energy slideshow.
SLIDE 2: Title this slide POTENTIAL ENERGY. Add 2 facts about potential energy from the BrainPop video. Find a picture that shows stored energy and add it. (If you can’t think of an example, here are some hints: bow/arrow; pulling the spring back on a pin ball game; holding a marble at the top of a tube; a boulder at the top of a hill; water behind a dam; pressure in an unopened soda bottle.)
SLIDE 3:Title this slide KINETIC ENERGY. Add 2 facts about kinetic energy from the Brain Pop video & find a picture that shows movement. See if you can find an animated picture that actually moves.
Slide 4: Title this slide TRANSFER OF ENERGY. Add this definition- Transfer of Energy- Changing from one form of energy to another. Add a picture showing an example of changing from one form of energy to another (potential to kinetic, chemical to light and heat energy)
SLIDE 5: Title this slide GRAVITATIONAL ENERGY. Scroll down ALL the way to the bottom of this page and read about gravitational energy. Write one fact about this kind of energy and add a picture showing height.
SLIDE 6: Title this slide CHEMICAL ENERGY. After reading here about chemical energy, add one fact and a picture that has to do with chemical energy.
SLIDE 7: Title this slide SOUND ENERGY. Watch this cool video and write one thing you learned from it. Add a picture related to sound energy.
SLIDE 8: Title this slide LIGHT ENERGY. Read about light energy here and write one thing you learned from it. Add a picture related to light energy.
SLIDE 9: Title this slide THERMAL ENERGY. Read about heat energy hereand watch the Bill Nye video on this site too. Write one thing you learned from it. Add a picture related to thermal energy.
SLIDE 10: Title this slide ELECTRICAL ENERGY. Watch this video and write one thing you learned from it. Add a picture related to electrical energy.
SLIDE 11: Title this slide NUCLEAR ENERGY. Watch this Bill Nye video clipand write one thing you learned from it. Add a picture related to nuclear energy.
SLIDE 12: Title this slide FOSSIL FUELS. Watch this Bill Nye clip about fossil fuels. What are the two types of fossil fuels Bill Nye says provides most of our daily energy?
SLIDE 13: Title this slide SAVING ENERGY. Watch this video on What is Energy? and this video on How to Save Energy. List 3 ways the video suggests you can save energy at your house. Add a picture that shows a way to save energy.
ALTERNATIVE ENERGY (Ways to get energy that DO NOT use fossil fuels)
SLIDE 14: Title this slide SOLAR ENERGY. Watch this video on solar power. List at least 2 ways that using solar energy would be good for our planet. Add a picture of solar power.
SLIDE 15: Title this slide WIND ENERGY. Watch this video on wind power. Explain how using wind energy could be good for our planet. Add a picture of wind power.
SLIDE 16: Title this slide HYDROELECTRIC POWER. Watch this video on hydroelectric power. Explain how using hydroelectric power as a source of energy could be good for our planet. Add a picture that shows hydroelectric power used as energy.
SLIDE 17: Title this slide ENERGY AT DISNEY. Watch this video about the energy used at Disneyworld. List at least 2 ways energy is used at Disney. Add a picture related to energy at Disney.
SLIDE 18: Title this slide I CAN HELP. By saving energy, you are helping to save the world's energy resources and make a better environment! Think about what would happen if there wasn't enough energy when you grow up...no lights, no tv or computers, no gas to drive a car! Now think of things YOU can do to help save energy and list at least 2 things you can do at home or at school to help! Add 2 pictures to go with your 2 ways you can help.
When you are finished, SHARE your slideshow with me at sponder@hcs-students.net
